Job Title: Platemaker
Job Summary
The Platemaker is responsible for producing high-quality photopolymer printing plates using the Miraclon FLEXCEL NX platemaking system. This role involves performing plate layout, imaging, processing, finishing, quality inspection, cutting, and packaging to ensure precise and efficient production of printing plates. The position supports the Miraclon FLEXCEL NX Department and reports to the Production Manager. The Platemaker plays a vital role in maintaining the high standards of print production through careful attention to detail and adherence to established procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate the Miraclon FLEXCEL NX platemaking system to produce photopolymer printing plates.
- Perform plate layout and imaging according to job specifications.
- Process plates through various stages including finishing, quality inspection, and cutting.
- Ensure each plate meets quality standards before packaging.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify and address any defects or inconsistencies.
- Package completed plates securely for shipment or storage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency during printing operations.
- Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures related to printing and platemaking processes.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and optimize workflow.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in printing or platemaking is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Basic understanding of printing processes and equipment operation is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control.
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions accurately.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to handle delicate materials with care.
- Flexibility to work the scheduled shift from 9:30am-6pm, Monday through Friday.
