Team Purpose: Make Good Data Easy
Are you passionate about turning messy data into trustworthy, actionable insights? Do you thrive on building structure, improving data quality, and creating systems that empower an entire organization to make smarter decisions? The Energy Authority (TEA) is looking for a Senior Data Governance Analyst to join our Business Insights team—a group dedicated to making good data easy.
In this role, you’ll be a key player in shaping the integrity, stability, and usability of TEA’s business intelligence environment. You’ll lead initiatives around data quality, compliance, governance frameworks, and deployment pipelines that support critical business functions across our trading, risk, and operational teams.
We’re seeking someone who blends technical expertise with analytical thinking, someone who’s just as comfortable writing test logic and investigating data issues as they are collaborating cross-functionally and translating business needs into governed solutions. You’ll play a central role in driving trust in our data and confidence in our systems.
What You’ll Do:
Design and implement robust data quality tests using a test-driven development approach
Lead data governance initiatives across the BI landscape—from data lineage and compliance to rule-based testing and environment controls
Monitor real-time data processes and proactively address failures or quality concerns
Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines, BI solution deployments, and documentation standards
Ensure seamless delivery of scheduled data reports and compliance submissions (e.g., EQR, FERC 552)
Collaborate with stakeholders across trading, risk, settlements, and IT to align solutions with business objectives
Act as a central resource for triaging, escalating, and resolving critical data and system issues
Drive technical debt reduction and documentation to build a scalable data governance environment
What You Bring to the Table:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical, analytical, or related field
2–4 years of experience in data governance, business intelligence, or data operations
Proficiency with SQL, Git, and CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps
Experience with test-driven development, data validation logic, and data quality monitoring
Familiarity with BI tools like Power BI, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Tableau, or similar
Knowledge of Python (Pandas, PySpark) and Databricks is a plus
Bonus points for experience with energy trading platforms such as Allegro Horizon or Hartigen Power Optix
Strong communication skills and a passion for helping others trust and use data effectively
Why You’ll Love This Role:
You’ll be part of a high-impact team that’s rebuilding and redefining what data governance means at TEA
Your work will directly support real-time decision-making in the dynamic energy trading environment
You’ll gain broad exposure to business functions and technologies, with the ability to shape meaningful solutions
TEA values growth, innovation, and contribution over tenure—your ideas and initiative will be recognized and rewarded
