Role Description: The Direct Care Worker provides non-medical support to adults in their homes in accordance with The Wright White Glove Standard™.We are not looking for someone who wants a job. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with personal care (such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting), supporting safe mobility and transfers, and helping with meal preparation and light housekeeping.
The role involves offering companionship, conversation, and emotional support, as well as monitoring and reporting changes in clients’ conditions or needs to supervisors in a timely manner. The Direct Care Worker may provide respite care for family caregivers, follow individualized care plans, and maintain clear, accurate documentation for each visit.
Team members are expected to arrive reliably and on time, uphold client dignity and privacy, and communicate professionally with clients, families, and agency staff.
Qualifications
· Experience providing direct, hands-on care in home or facility settings, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and safe transfers.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, provide respectful companionship, and interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare partners.
· Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail, including timely arrival for shifts, adherence to care plans, and accurate documentation of visits and observations.
· Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role, such as standing, walking, lifting, and supporting clients safely, often with the use of mobility aids or transfer techniques.
· Commitment to client dignity, privacy, and safety, including following infection control practices and agency policies at all times.
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience as a direct care worker, personal care aide, home health aide, or similar role is highly beneficial.
