Senior Electrical Controls Design Engineer
Location: Swedesboro, NJ
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
Pay: $55–$67 per hour, based on experience
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Controls Design Engineer to design electrical control systems, control panels and power distribution systems for industrial manufacturing machinery.
This position is best suited for an engineer with hands-on experience supporting industrial equipment or OEM machinery. Candidates whose experience is primarily in commercial buildings, MEP consulting, construction or utility distribution will not be the right match.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical control systems, power distribution systems and switchgear assemblies for industrial machinery
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical
- Develop bills of materials, technical specifications and engineering documentation
- Design control circuits and electrical cabinets for automated manufacturing equipment
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, CSA, UL508A, NFPA 70, NFPA 79 and NFPA 70E standards
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical and mechanical systems
- Support manufacturing, testing and production teams during equipment builds and acceptance testing
- Review engineering changes and implement design improvements
- Participate in projects from initial concept through commissioning
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers when needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
- At least five years of electrical design experience
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience designing electrical control panels or cabinets for industrial machinery
- Strong electrical schematic and wiring diagram experience
- Experience with machine controls, power distribution or switchgear
- Knowledge of industrial control circuits and electrical systems
- Familiarity with applicable NEC, UL, NFPA and CSA standards
- Ability to work on-site in Swedesboro, New Jersey
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLC-controlled machinery or automation systems
- Experience collaborating with mechanical engineering teams
- Manufacturing, testing or production support experience
- SolidWorks or Engineering Base experience
- Customer-facing technical support experience
- Experience with wire processing, cable manufacturing or similar industrial equipment
