This position serves as a frontline supervisor and exercises judgment in planning, organizing, and overseeing the day-to-day activities required to design, develop and/or modify end-user, system level, and data management software applications to achieve established project and program objectives. This position will supervise a team of Engineers/Developers in the design and development of software from the requirements phase through integration and test, with a primary focus on daily operational execution, task coordination, and issue resolution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Determine and clarify user requirements and specifications within assigned projects and plan for software development activities within the broader organizational scope. Software development includes end-user, system level, and data management applications.
- Translate higher-level software plans into detailed work assignments for the team and assist in formulating plans for the implementation of software solutions. This includes supporting decisions on language, platform, and resource needs in alignment with established standards.
- Oversee and participate in the implementation of design including coding, testing, and documentation to meet defined schedules and quality requirements.
- Coordinate deployment of applications across the enterprise including cross-platform compliance and ensuring availability of necessary resources in collaboration with other groups.
- Supervise code maintenance activities including debugging and updating to keep pace with the evolving environment and user needs.
- Provide input to plans for future applications based on new developments in computer technology and feedback from users and stakeholders.
- Communicate routinely with the software developer group, with users, and with management as well as with the wider community to report status, issues, and risks.
- Provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and support to assigned staff, including task assignment, workload balancing, and monitoring progress against schedules.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and evaluating team members and provide input on hiring and performance management.
- Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
