POSITION DESCRIPTION
Design Associate
Purpose Recognizing the firm’s commitment to achieve and maintain design excellence and innovation, the Design Associate plays a crucial role in the project design and documentation process. Together with the firm’s principals, senior design associates and the assigned project design team, the Design Associate will be responsible for the selection, development, and implementation of all aspects of a project, including:
- Project inception and design, from concept to implementation
- Project team coordination and task management, including deadlines
- Project documentation (drawings and specifications)
- Project coordination (working with other project consultants)
- Frequent interaction and communication with the project team, including clients and project managers
- Project implementation, including travel to the project site
Experience The Design Associate will ideally have 1-6 years of professional experience or equivalent practical knowledge, preferably in hospitality design.
Reporting The Design Associate will report directly to the firm’s principals, with secondary project accountability to the Senior Design Associate with project oversight.
Project communications will vary by assignment and are based upon the size and complexity of the project requirements and design team. There will be instances when the Design Associate will be the sole decision-maker involved in a project. Similarly, there will be larger projects that involve multiple designers, and a Design Associate may assume the role of “project manager” for that assignment.
