The Quality Control Inspector is a vital member of the Quality Team, playing a crucial role in ensuring that customer requirements are met. The primary focus of this role is to conduct comprehensive inspections of finished items to verify compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
This position works with and supports the Quality Control Lead to achieve the desired Strategic Objectives of the organization while embracing Mills Vision/Values and Mission that define how we do business as a company.
Responsibilities/Scope:
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of finished items to verify compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Evaluate materials, construction, and overall workmanship to ensure adherence to customer specifications and manufacturing processes.
- Provide feedback to the Quality Control Lead regarding common quality concerns to facilitate continuous improvement with manufacturing.
- Apply lean concepts to recommend and implement more efficient methods, including 5S, Waste Reduction, and Standard Work principles.
- Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrate understanding of ISO standard as it applies to Mill’s processes.
JOB SPECIFICATION INFORMATION:
- Interpret/read applicable inspection documentation to include Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWI’s) and inspection Control Plans.
- Identify and document any defects and/or discrepancies from quality standards on defect tally sheet and collaborate with the Quality Control Lead to address and rectify issues from reoccurrence.
- Identify and document any defects and/or discrepancies from quality standard on repair ticket and conduct follow-up inspection on reworked item to confirm that quality standards have been met.
- Train other Quality Control Inspectors to keep them informed about updated quality standards, inspection methods, and standard work, including the completion of relevant inspection documentation as needed.
- Utilize measuring instruments, including rulers, measuring tapes, and/or fixtures, to perform dimensional checks as defined by inspection documentation, confirming conformity to customer specifications.
- Participate in the development and improvement of quality control processes and procedures.
- Ensure the correctness of all final product packaging and labeling information.
- Ability to stamp nomenclature stamping on product as necessary per customer requirements.
- Verify the accuracy of the canopy and/or component nomenclature stamp.
- Ensure the proper product is scanned into ERP system prior to starting the inspection process to ensure accuracy of costing data.
- Ensure the accuracy of scanning and logging quantities into ERP system.
- Commitment to adhering to all safety protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned when deemed necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to independently lift up to 35 pounds.
- Must meet near vision requirement of Snellan 14/18 (20/30) and be capable of adequately distinguishing and differentiating colors used in the process or activity being performed.
- Sit or Stand or variation of both for duration of shift.
- Use hand and arms to reach, feel or handle.
- Ability to perform jobs using repetitive motion.
Education Required:
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent;
Preferred: Additional training in inspection, or work towards Associates Degree
Experience And /Or Capability Required:
Minimum:
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Proficient in the use of measuring instruments; tape measure, ruler etc.
· Excellent communication in English.
· Teamwork focused.
Preferred:
· Familiarity with quality control standards and methodologies.
· Previous inspection experience.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
