Overview:
FRCS is seeking candidates for the position of Behavior Intervention Paraprofessional. Join a family friendly school that is committed to high quality dual-language and whole family education. The Behavior Intervention Paraprofessional is under the direction of the Vice Principal and works in collaboration with the counselor, teachers, instructional assistants, and FRCS staff. This position is primarily responsible for providing support to students demonstrating disruptive behaviors and/or experiencing trauma so that the student may actively participate in class.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides support to students demonstrating disruptive behaviors or experiencing trauma.
- Monitor and redirect students demonstrating inappropriate behaviors.
- Work alongside the School Social Worker and other school-based professionals to administer behavior intervention programs to identified students.
- Monitor and document students progress related to behavior goals.
- Support classroom management and positive learning environments.
- Engage in de-escalation strategies.
- Supervise students in the classroom, at recess, during lunch periods, and other school sponsored activities.
- Assist the teaching staff in preparing instructional materials.
- Help students understand the instructional content.
- Assist with parent communication.
- General classroom duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working with students in a school setting, particularly those with behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies, interventions, and de-escalation strategies.
- Certifications pertaining to this position at time of application and throughout employment.
- Restraint training and current certification
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Background check required.

Terms of Employment:
This full-time, 9-month position works during the school year (August – May). Working hours are 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 7:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. depending on placement.
Compensation:
$21.46 - $27.94 determined by education, experience, specialty, and known knowledge base of the candidate.
