Job Summary

Duties
- Collect blood samples through venipuncture and capillary puncture, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort
- Prepare and process laboratory specimens accurately for testing, following strict aseptic techniques
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to assist clinicians in patient assessments
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures, including patient positioning and equipment setup
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient information, specimen collection, and test results in compliance with privacy regulations
- Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures clearly, answering questions, and ensuring a positive experience
- Support laboratory operations by organizing supplies, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
- IV therapy.
- Perform patient assessments and vital signs, prior to IV.
- Initiate and discontinue peripheral IV lines using aseptic technique.
- Administer IV fluids, vitamins, minerals, per standing orders or provider directives.
- Monitor patients during and after IV therapy for adverse reactions.
- Maintain IV supplies, medications, and equipment; ensure proper storage and expiration checks.
Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures and techniques related to specimen collection and processing
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to blood sampling and patient care
- Hands-on experience with venipuncture (blood sampling) and phlebotomy best practices
- Familiarity with clinical laboratory processes and hospital environment protocols
- Ability to communicate effectively using medical terminology with patients and healthcare team members
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen handling
- Demonstrated ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and efficiently
