This brings calm and joy to both our Pups and Pup Parents alike.
We need either 2 full time or multiple part time team members to join the team. This job will include a variety of activities. This includes helping pick-up/drop-off our dog members at their home on our amazing retrofitted school bus and then supporting the dogs at the Pup Ranch to have a safe and fun experience. The Pup Ranch is a beautiful 5 acre shaded property 20 minutes east of downtown Austin where the dogs are able to play as a pack off-leash. The ranch includes a custom designed doggy swimming pool, huge "wedding like" tent including outdoor A/C, hiking trails, and dog park.
What will become Austin's premier doggy daycare, the Murphy Pup Bus camp counselors (aka Pup Pals) will become a vital part of creating a fun, safe, and enriching environment for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. In this energetic role, you’ll engage with dogs through active play and socialization while ensuring their well-being and safety. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, develop animal handling skills, and contribute to a positive pet care experience for our furry Pup Crew. Duties
- Chaperon the dogs as they commute door-to-door to the ranch and back home. Willingness and ability to drive a small 15 person school bus is a plus. The bus trip will include both drive and one additional Pup Pal.
- Supervise and interact with dogs during outdoor play sessions, ensuring all activities are safe and enjoyable.
- Assist with on-ranch activities including, but not limited to, filling water, rinsing dogs at end of day, picking up poop, landscape needs, small maintenance activities, etc.
- Monitor dog behavior closely to prevent conflicts and intervene using proper animal restraint techniques when necessary
- Provide excellent customer service in all interactions with Pup Parents at bus pick-up and drop-off.
- Provide input on continued opportunities to improve safety and fun for both the dogs and humans working/playing at Murphy's Pup Bus - Dog Ranch & Daycare
Experiences valued:
- Prior pet experience such as veterinary, dog-walking, dog-sitting, dog-grooming, etc is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior is a strong plus
- Ability to handle dogs safely using animal restraint techniques and proper handling skills
- Comfortable performing outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Capable of heavy lifting when necessary for equipment or large animals
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional attitude
- Strong commitment to animal safety and facility safety standards
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively, work hard, and have fun.
