Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced, compassionate emergency animal hospital. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, including intubation, vascular access, and anesthesia administration
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff
- Conduct diagnostic radiology procedures such as X-rays and radiology diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnosis
- Manage laboratory tests, phlebotomy, and sample collection to support critical care diagnostics
- Monitor vital signs and provide ongoing patient care in critical & intensive care units
- Administer medications accurately, including injections and IV therapy, following aseptic techniques
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document all treatments and procedures performed
- Support pet owners with pet care guidance and ensure animals are comfortable and well-cared-for during their stay
Skills
- Proven veterinary experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal physiology
- Skilled in animal husbandry, dog handling, and animal restraint techniques for various species including equine experience when applicable
- Proficient in medical equipment operation such as X-ray machines, laboratory analyzers, and anesthesia machines
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures for dental care in animals
- Experience with veterinary critical care practices, including general anesthesia, sedation, and emergency medicine protocols
- Ability to perform IV insertion, animal catheterization, vascular access, and phlebotomy efficiently
- Familiarity with diagnostic radiology techniques and radiology diagnostics for accurate imaging interpretation
- Strong animal anatomy knowledge combined with animal care skills to ensure optimal treatment outcomes
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about pet grooming, pet care, and emergency procedures
