Job Summary:
The Elders' Program Specialist position is responsible for the support of day to day functions, program support and data entry at Kenaitze Indian Tribe's Tyotkas Elder Center.
Essential Functions:

Serves as backup to the Program Administrator as needed

Maintaining contact lists, processing and distributing mail and faxes, maintaining office equipment, coordinating service repairs and tracking inventory

Responsible for planning, oversight and implementation of all Tyotkas sponsored events
- Provides to the Elders Administrator monthly and quarterly reports, which reflect program participation by event, program advocacy efforts, challenges and recommendations for Center enhancement; and to the Elders Committee, as directed
- Works within the best-practice standards, protocols and procedures of the Human and Community Services Division and the Finance Division
- Serves as a member of workgroups and service teams, as assigned

Promotes good relations with staff, vendors and community agencies

Develops and consistently maintains accurate Elders information lists to include, but not be limited to phone number(s), mailing address, physical address, birth date, emergency contacts, etc.
- Assist in food service activities and kitchen support, as needed

Works with the Activities Coordinator and Tribal Administration to schedule large mailings, newsletters and special meeting notices

Oversight of the creation and mailing of the monthly activities calendar and menu

Provides monthly input relevant to newsletter topics and content, public awareness materials, and resource information
- Work to ensure the appropriate and correct input into the Elder's program database
- Collection, input and maintenance of daily units into spreadsheets and other data sources

Track borrowed and returned supplies and equipment

General oversight of the Tyotkas Library, resources, materials, and archive documents to ensure appropriate display, maintenance of materials and items preservation

Input all program charges into Reqlogic

Maintains confidentiality in accordance with the Tribe's Policy

Treat Elders with respect, dignity and courtesy at all times

Reports incidents of suspected elder abuse and or neglect in accordance with Tribal and State law

Qualifications:
Education:
-
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
-
Certification in a specialized field of study specific to business management, project management, food service, or advocacy
Experience:
-
Three years of program advocacy experience
-
Three years of office experience
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel and Outlook
-
Five (5) years elder advocacy experience
License/Certification:
-
Current First Aid & CPR Certification, or within 90 days of hire
-
Valid Alaska Driver's License and remain insurable under the Tribe's policy

Current Food Handlers Certificate, or within 30 days of hire
