General Responsibilities
Delivery of Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) and training according to Alta practices and guidelines. Assists Early Childhood Mental Health Supervisor in program coordination, mentoring, training, and related administrative functions.
Specific Essential Functions of the Job
1. Consultation
- Provide Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Services to early care staff and other professionals as indicated, across various settings including but not limited to private and public childcare settings, Head Start and social service agencies utilizing best-practice models, such as the Ohio Model of ECMHC.
2. Program Coordination
- Work with consultants in the field to provide field-based mentoring and training. Assist with completion and submission of monthly activity logs, monthly monitoring report of BH ECMHC activities provided to HS, collect monthly information from ECMHS’s and monitoring/reporting of staff productivity. As requested, assist ECMH Supervisor with funding applications and reports. Other duties as requested by Early Child MH Supervisor
3. Training
- Provide limited, as needed, Early Childhood Mental Health Professional Development training to early care staff and other professionals as indicated, across various settings including but not limited to private and public childcare settings, Head Start and social service agencies at the local, regional and state level. The content of the professional development trainings is current, evidence-based curricula and models such as Early Learning Development Standards, FLIP-IT, etc.
4. Record Maintenance
- Develop a Consultation Checklist and Action Plan for each consultation service location, collect all required data pieces as necessary for program evaluation and reporting purposes. Enter all data pieces into Alta or funding source web-systems as required.
- Securing necessary releases of information to perform ECMHC services from schools and/or parents.
5. Support to the Agency
- Assist the Clinical Director and/or Department Coordinator in collecting and compiling objective data so as to accurately assess success of services as they relate to targeted service outcome goals.
- If appointed, serve on the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.
- Participate in all clinical team and department activities as required in the Alta’s Early Childhood Program.
- Participate in staff and program development by attending continuing education and in-service training, as required by Alta or funding source.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled and other supervision activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by ECMH Supervisor.
6. M.I.S. Time Accounting
- Maintain and file on a timely basis accurate time accounting as required by the Alta's management information system to account for employee's activities and for billing purposes.

Specific Essential Conditions of Employment
1. Physical ability, with reasonable accommodation if necessary, to perform specific responsibilities included in the job description.

3. Ability to provide transportation for self as needed.
- Possess a valid Ohio Driver's License.
- Current auto liability insurance to the limits required by the Ohio Department of Motor Vehicles.
4. Citizen of the United States.
5. Absence of past criminal activity, which would bring into question professional and personal integrity as it applies to the position responsibilities.
6. Ability to perform consultation/training at sites/locations based on needs of the consumer.
7. Flexibility in adjusting work schedule, days and hours as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Family and Consumer Studies, Social Work or other related mental health field.
2. Must be a Licensed or Certified Mental Health Professional and/or willing to obtain required credential.
Preferred Qualifications
1. In addition to above, has had academic background in child developmental/early childhood areas.
2. Experience in assessment/interventions with young (under age six) children.
3. Experience in consultation and/or working with service or health service providers to youth.
Work Conditions
Variable hours of work which may include overtime and weekends and occasional travel.
Pay commensurate with experience.
