Job Summary
The Optical Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the optical departments across Austin. This role does involve traveling between the different locations based off the business needs. The Optical Manager will be in charge of managing staff, ensuring high-quality customer service, and maintaining compliance with medical and retail standards. The Optical Manager will also be responsible for coordinating patient care, managing inventory, and ensuring that all optical equipment is functioning properly. Additionally, the Optical Manager is responsible for all training and development of optical staff, ensuring effective costs of goods, competitive retail pricing, and tracking all locations KPI's. Lastly, the Optical Manager is expected to be able to jump in at any point to help, rather that is lens manufacturing, insurance billing, patient care, etc.
Duties
- Supervise and train optical staff to ensure excellent patient service and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with health regulations and standards.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
- Conduct routine inspections of optical equipment and coordinate necessary repairs or maintenance.
- Be a hands-on leader by leading by example
- Utilize knowledge of lens designs, material pros and cons, optical cross, prentice rule, and ANSI standards to assist in patient consultations and provide appropriate recommendations for eyewear
- Implement retail management strategies to enhance sales performance and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure proper medical coding for insurance claims and billing processes while utilizing effect cost of goods strategy.
Qualifications
- Optical experience is required.
- A strong understanding of Optical Cross, Prentice Rule, and ANSI Standards is beneficial.
- Proficiency in retail math to manage sales reports and inventory effectively.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Saturday 10:00am - 5:00pm
Sunday 12:00pm - 4:00pm
