PVS Metals is looking for a dependable, safety-minded Steel Mill Operator to work alongside our Cut-to-Length (CTL) line operator in Omaha. The CTL line cuts large steel coils into flat sheets to customer specification — and your job is to keep it running smoothly. From placing dunnage and verifying squareness to operating an overhead crane and tracking material through our system, this is a hands-on production role where your reliability and attention to detail directly impact quality and throughput.

What You’ll Do

Assist the CTL line operator with stacking and loading of steel sheets to keep production flowing efficiently

Place boards and dunnage on the stacker in accordance with job specifications

Check and verify squareness of product coming off the line; report any issues to the operator

Ensure the correct coil or material is loaded into the machine before each run

Operate overhead crane safely using remote controls to move material from the line

Accurately transfer finished material into storage locations using OPTS tracking software

Check quality against job specifications and mill tolerances; report any deviations to supervision

Assist with preventive maintenance routines on CTL line equipment

Inspect equipment and report defects to the maintenance department and supervisor

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Carry out all duties in accordance with ISO standards and company procedures
What We’re Looking For

Overhead crane operation experience preferred; certification required or ability to obtain upon hire

Prior experience in a steel service center, manufacturing, or industrial production environment a plus

Willingness to learn CTL line operations through structured on-the-job training

Strong attention to detail — ability to verify squareness, material ID, and quality against specs

Organized and accountable — takes ownership of your work area and responsibilities

Team player who actively supports the operator and contributes to production goals

Commitment to safety in all crane and equipment operations
