1.0 JOB DESCRIPTION
Primarily, the Project Engineer focuses on the optimization of production processes and ancillary processes in ELG’s NY facilities. One major focal area is the further development of Standard Work for production equipment within the facility. Another major focal area is the optimization of production processes and equipment with the goal of improving production rates and operator safety while reducing process downtime and implementing new equipment that is highly focused on automation. The Project Engineer is also expected to assist with CAPEX efforts to bring in new equipment to the facility.
2.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Development and upkeep of Standard Work for production equipment
- Development of concepts for process optimization efforts on production processes and equipment to increase production rates and reduce downtime
- Support of technical projects / CAPEX projects
- Development of specifications for new processing equipment
- Support of data-driven preventative maintenance, collaboration with maintenance team
- Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts throughout the facility
- Support equipment safety initiatives and assist with technical solutions to safety issues
- Assist in the design, programming, and commissioning of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and SCADA architectures.
- Assist with Robotic Systems Deployment
- Integrate automated control loops for specialized recycling equipment
3.0 COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor degree in the field of engineering
- 3-5 Industry experience preferred
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficient use of MS Office and Google Workspace, especially MS Excel/Google Sheets and MS Project
- Proficient in AutoCad and Solidworks
- Hands-on mentality
- Team player with good communication skills
- Experience in Lean manufacturing, 5s, Project Management
- Knowledge and skills in technical drawing and writing

5.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The employee is required to spend a considerable amount of time in the manufacturing facility and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
6.0 PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This position operates in an office within a manufacturing facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be in the production area working on the process functioning. Minimal good physical health required; 20 to 40lbs lifting, ladder climbing, etc. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands for handling; and reach with hands and arms.
7.0 POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. Hours of work may vary based on business needs.
8.0 TRAVEL
Infrequent, however, employee may need to travel occasionally, visit other ELG locations or suppliers / machine builders.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
