Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Supervisor Pharmacist to lead our pharmacy team in delivering exceptional patient care within a fast-paced hospital environment. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily pharmacy operations, ensuring pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, and supporting clinical pharmacy services across various departments. The Supervisor Pharmacist will serve as a key leader in promoting medication safety, optimizing patient outcomes, and fostering a collaborative team culture. Ideal candidates will possess extensive hospital pharmacy experience, including critical care, trauma centers, and specialized units such as PICU and oncology, along with strong leadership skills to guide staff and uphold high standards of practice.
Duties
- Supervise daily pharmacy operations within hospital settings, ensuring efficient medication dispensing and patient service
- Oversee medication preparation, including IV infusion compounding and aseptic techniques, maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols
- Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance by monitoring drug regulation standards and implementing necessary policies
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient assessment, pharmacotherapeutics, and pain management strategies across acute care units
- Provide clinical guidance on complex cases involving pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to optimize patient care
- Lead efforts in EMR/EHR documentation accuracy and utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) for medication management
- Mentor and precept pharmacy residents and staff pharmacists, fostering professional development and continuous learning
- Manage inventory control, drug regulation adherence, and ensure proper medication administration procedures are followed in hospital pharmacy settings
- Participate in emergency response activities in trauma centers or ICU environments, including Level I/II trauma center protocols and emergency room workflows
Experience
- Extensive hospital pharmacy experience with a focus on critical care environments such as ICU, PICU, or emergency rooms
- Proven leadership experience supervising pharmacy teams in complex healthcare settings
- Demonstrated expertise in managed care processes and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance
- Hands-on experience with IV infusion preparation, aseptic technique, and drug regulation standards
- Strong background in pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to acute care scenarios
- Post-residency practice or clinical pharmacy experience with a focus on hospital medicine or specialty areas like oncology or pain management
- Familiarity with hospital information systems (PIS), EMR/EHR platforms, and medication administration protocols
- Experience precepting students or residents within a hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures within trauma or ICU environments is preferred
