Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions accurately and swiftly.
- Handle cash, credit, and digital payments with precision, maintaining proper cash handling procedures.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, provide product demos when applicable, and recommend additional items through upselling techniques.
- Maintain an organized checkout area by stocking supplies, merchandising products attractively, and ensuring the store remains clean and inviting.
- Support inventory management by stocking shelves, conducting stock counts, and assisting with merchandising displays.
- Deliver excellent customer service by addressing questions promptly, practicing courteous phone etiquette, and resolving issues professionally.
- Engage customers in retail sales activities, including promoting store promotions and new products to enhance sales performance.
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems and cashiering duties in a retail or grocery store environment.
- Strong supervising experience or leadership skills to assist in team coordination when needed.
- Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for cash handling and retail math calculations.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and bilingual settings to connect effectively with diverse customers.
- Skilled in customer service techniques, including active listening and problem resolution.
- Knowledge of grocery store operations, merchandising standards, and stock management procedures.
- Capable of conducting product demos and upselling to maximize sales opportunities while maintaining a friendly demeanor.
