Retail Steel Sales Team Member

Steel Towne is a locally owned steel retail shop serving contractors, farmers, builders, and everyday walk-in customers. We’re looking for a reliable, motivated team member who is comfortable working directly with customers, answering phones, and helping people get the right material for the job—while also taking pride in hands-on shop work.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys a mix of customer interaction and hands-on shop work and is looking for a steady, long-term position.
What You’ll Do
- Provide friendly, professional service to customers and help them identify the correct steel, stainless, or aluminum for their projects
- Answer phones, take basic orders, and communicate clearly with customers and coworkers
- Cut material to size using plasma table, shear, saw, or torch
- Load and unload customer orders by hand or forklift
- Assist with light welding or fabrication (experience helpful but not required)
- Receive and organize incoming steel shipments
- Keep material racks, work areas, and equipment clean and organized
- Occasionally assist with local deliveries (company vehicle)
What We’re Looking For
- Dependable and self-motivated—shows up on time and ready to work
- Comfortable interacting with adult customers, contractors, and business owners in a professional setting
- Comfortable working with hands, tools, and material
- Good basic math and able to read a tape measure
- Able to lift steel and work in an industrial environment
- Clean driving record and reliable transportation
- Welding, CNC plasma table, blueprint reading, or steel experience is a plus—but not required
- Must be trustworthy and able to pass a pre-employment screening
- Steel toe / composite toe required
Schedule
- Full-Time: 40–45 hours per week
- Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay & Benefits
- Starting at $16–$18/hour, based on experience and skill level
- Overtime paid after 40 hours
- Paid lunch (30 minutes)
- Uniform provided after 1 month
- Paid vacation and holidays after 1 year (full-time)
- Simple IRA matching up to 3% After 2 years of employment
