Volunteer Specialist II
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Salary: $40,000-$45,000 Annual, commensurate with experience
Position Summary
The Volunteer Specialist II supports the AmeriCorps Seniors programs in managing and organizing volunteer activities. This role involves administrative tasks, volunteer training, event support, and ensuring a positive experience for all volunteers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. *Other duties as assigned.
· Volunteer Coordination: Assist in scheduling and coordinating volunteer placements.
· Training and Orientation: Help conduct background checks, training sessions and orientations for new volunteers.
· Placement Support: Conduct initial and ongoing visits with volunteers and sites to assess their needs, monitor progress, and provide direct assistance.
· Administrative Tasks: Create and maintain volunteer records, prepare reports, and manage communications.
· Event Support: Assist in planning and executing events, ensuring volunteers are properly assigned and supported.
· Volunteer Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive environment that ensures all volunteers feel welcomed and supported.
· Compliance and Safety: Ensure volunteers adhere to safety regulations and organizational policies.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in social work, nursing, public health, gerontology, community health or related human services field preferred.
· Minimum of two years of experience working with older adults, client services, volunteer management, and/or lived experience preferred.
Competencies
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
· Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with diverse older adult participants, donors, volunteers, team members, and the community.
· Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite, email, and general internet functions required
· Evidence of effective problem resolution skills, work independently and follow scheduled plans.
Special Licensing
· None Required.
Expected Hours of Work
· Standard office hours are M-F 8:00 am-4:30 pm.
· Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
· Must have a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and access to private transportation that meets state insurance requirements and vehicle safety standards to use on agency business.
· Frequent travel to complete duties and responsibilities.
· May encounter various environmental conditions depending on client's living situation.
