Job Summary
We are seeking energetic and detail-oriented Wellness Screeners to join our team for a special finger stick event scheduled:
- September 16th from 7:30am - 2:30pm
As a Wellness Screener, you will play a vital role in supporting health initiatives by accurately collecting blood samples via finger sticks, performing vital signs assessments, and ensuring a smooth, efficient process for all participants. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for patient care, laboratory procedures, and providing exceptional customer service in a dynamic environment. All positions are paid roles, and this is a PRN (as-needed) opportunity designed to support community health efforts.
Responsibilities
- Perform finger stick blood sampling using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity and patient safety
- Collect and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or other data entry systems
- Follow established laboratory procedures and protocols for specimen collection, handling, and processing
- Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures clearly, answering questions professionally, and maintaining patient comfort throughout the process
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control practices including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and aseptic techniques
- Assist with specimen labeling, documentation, and transport to designated laboratory areas for analysis
- Support the overall flow of the event by managing participant flow efficiently while ensuring compliance with safety standards
Requirements
- Prior experience or training in laboratory procedures, phlebotomy (blood sampling), or clinical laboratory work is highly preferred
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques including specimen collection and handling is essential
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required or willing to obtain prior to event date
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care practices across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and documentation purposes
- Ability to perform venipuncture (blood draw) and blood sampling with precision while maintaining aseptic technique
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform heavy lifting if necessary, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor and strong attention to detail
