Description:
Cardiovascular sonographer (ECHO) performs a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves. Evaluation of anatomy and pathophysiology of the cardiac and vascular systems by the use of diagnostic ultrasound. Support of Laboratory operations by quality assurance activity, educational and Lab development accreditation projects.
Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):

Verifies patient identification and physician’s orders prior to performing any procedures

Acquires ultrasound images using correct technical factors and transducers. Evaluates quality of images

Accurately prepares patient’s study for interpretation by the interpreting physician (including presentation of any pertinent medical information

Uses the PACS system properly; images are sent and patient information is correctly entered into the system. Troubleshoots equipment and communications needed information to the Director
Requirements:
Education: ·

Graduate of a formal Accredited School of Radiological Technology, preferable a graduate of a formal diagnostic Medical Sonography Program

Active Registry in Medical Sonography by the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers)

Experienced sonographers must be ARDMS registered within 6 months of hire. New graduates must be ARDMS registered with 1 year

BLS Certified
