Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including chairside assisting with general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry cases.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions in a clear and compassionate manner.
- Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation as needed for patients with specific health considerations.
- Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with the dental team to deliver four-handed dentistry for efficiency and comfort during procedures.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist when necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to facilitate accurate communication within the team.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, X-ray processing, and infection control practices.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and considerations for working with children patients.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners and X-ray machines effectively.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties like prosthodontics and endodontics.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of infection control.
- Knowledge of medical coding relevant to dental procedures is advantageous but not mandatory.
