Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Ophthalmic Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced ophthalmic practice, assist with clinical procedures, and collaborate closely with physicians and staff to deliver outstanding outcomes.
Duties
- Conduct patient assessments and gather detailed medical histories.
- Assist ophthalmologists in procedures such as intravitreal injections, laser treatments, and minor surgical interventions.
- Administer medications, including eye drops and injections, as directed by the physician.
- Perform diagnostic tests, including visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and OCT imaging.
- Educate patients about treatments, medications, and post-procedure care.
- Maintain sterile and organized treatment environments, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
- Document all patient interactions and care plans accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and clinic efficiency.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience in ophthalmology or a related field preferred.
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Registered Nurse (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency in using diagnostic ophthalmic equipment and EHR systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Familiarity with toddler care is a plus for those working in pediatric settings.
- Knowledge of ER protocols and practices is advantageous for fast-paced environments.
- Previous experience in an inpatient setting or Level II Trauma Center is highly desirable
- Ability to work effectively in both team-oriented and independent situations.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development within the nursing field.
