The Heavy Equipment Parts Clerk is responsible for managing the receipt, verification, and organization of parts for heavy equipment. This role will ensure that all parts are properly checked in and the warehouse is maintained in an orderly manner. The Parts Clerk will also be responsible for hauling parts as needed and collaborating with the Service Manager and Parts Manager. This role reports directly to the Service Manager and works closely with the parts team, shop staff, technicians, and other department managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull and stage parts for technicians to minimize equipment downtime
- Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities and condition against purchase orders and packing slips
- Stock, organize, and label parts throughout the warehouse
- Create and process purchase orders (POs) for parts and supplies
- Work with the Parts Manager to order parts in a timely manner
- Support the service department by cross-referencing part numbers to equipment models and serial numbers
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and delivery timelines
- Pick up parts from local vendors as needed
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to safely move heavy parts and components
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parts department and warehouse
- Monitor stock levels and proactively flag reorder points to the Parts Manager
- Maintain accurate inventory records; assist with cycle counts and the annual physical inventory
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Familiarity with major heavy equipment brands
- 1-2+ years of parts counter or warehouse experience in heavy equipment preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor conditions
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods
- Combination of office setting and warehouse environment
- Comfortable working around loud machinery and in varying weather
This is an hourly, non-exempt position that may require overtime.
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
