Job Description
Z Transportation is a family-owned transportation company seeking an organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Dispatch / Load Coordinator to join our in-office operations team.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for coordinating freight, communicating with drivers and customers, monitoring shipments, and helping maximize fleet efficiency. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can solve problems quickly, and enjoys working as part of a team.
Previous dispatch or logistics experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch loads efficiently
- Build and optimize driver schedules and routes
- Communicate with drivers throughout their trips
- Coordinate appointments with customers, brokers, and receivers
- Monitor load status and provide shipment updates
- Resolve delays, service issues, and scheduling conflicts
- Follow DOT regulations and company policies
- Work closely with safety, maintenance, and accounting departments
- Enter and maintain accurate load information in the TMS
- Assist with freight planning to maximize truck utilization and profitability
Qualifications
- Experience in trucking dispatch, freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation is preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and make decisions under pressure
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer systems
- Experience with TMS software is a plus
- Knowledge of FMCSA and Hours of Service regulations is preferred
- Must be able to work in office at our Dover, NJ location
