The Library Assistant is responsible for maintaining the collection, following library policy, and maintaining a high quality collection of relevant print and electronic educational materials that support Keiser's academic offerings. The Library Assistant is responsible for:
- Performs routine inspection work associated with control of books/films/periodicals and shelving library materials in a library
- Provides Administrative support to the Library.

Process new materials including books, audiovisual materials, and computer software
- Sort books, publications, and other items according to established procedure and return them to
shelves, files, or other designated storage areas -
Locate library materials for students, including books, periodicals, tape cassettes, Braille
volumes, and pictures -
Instruct patrons on how to use reference sources, card catalogs, and automated information
systems -
Answer routine inquiries, and refer students in need of professional assistance to librarians

Maintain records of items received, stored, issued, and returned, and file catalog cards according
to system used -
Provide assistance to librarians in the maintenance of collections of books, periodicals,
magazines, newspapers, and audiovisual and other materials -
Open and close library during specified hours and secure library equipment, such as computers
and audiovisual (AV) equipment -
Perform clerical activities, such as answering phones, sorting mail, filing, typing, word
processing, and photocopying and mailing out material' -
Maintain library equipment, such as photocopiers, scanners, and computers, and instruct patrons
in proper use of such equipment -
Other duties as assigned by the librarian or assistant librarian

Must have the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
