The Temporary Relocation Services Coordinator will assist the Modernization Coordinator with the administration of the Housing Authority’s resident relocation needs for an upcoming capital improvement and modernization project. Serving as the primary liaison between the Housing Authority and affected residents, the qualified candidate will conduct relocation advisory meetings, evaluate each household’s relocation needs and eligibility, determine applicable relocation benefits and assistance, coordinate temporary housing arrangements, and provide ongoing support throughout the modernization project. The qualified candidate will maintain required documentation, ensure compliance with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act (URA), HUD regulations, and Housing Authority policies, and will work collaboratively with staff, contractors, and community partners to ensure relocations are carried out efficiently while minimizing disruption to residents.
Type of Employment: Temporary Full-Time (Capital Fund Grant Project Position)
Expected Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension based upon project needs and funding availability.
Schedule: Full-time hours with a flexible schedule; some evening and occasional weekend hours required to accommodate resident availability for one-on-one meetings.
Work Location: On-site at the project building and Housing Authority offices, with local travel to coordinate temporary placements.
Duties:
Resident Assessment and Communication
· Conduct one-on-one, in-person resident relocation meetings to review the completed resident surveys and clarify each household’s needs.
· Establish supportive, trusting relationships with residents, communicating in a timely, consistent, patient, and encouraging manner.
· Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison for resident relocation questions and concerns throughout the project.
· Review household composition, mobility limitations, medical needs, and special accommodation requirements for each unit.
Relocation Planning and Coordination:
· Determine appropriate temporary relocation options for residents identified as needing relocation.
· Arrange temporary housing and/or alternative accommodation, including hotel placements and family/friend relocations.
· Coordinate accessible accommodations for residents with mobility, sensory, or other disability-related needs.
· Coordinate moving companies as needed and perform quality checks on timeliness, efficiency, and resident satisfaction.
· Coordinate utility transfers when necessary and track resident movement throughout the construction period.
· Coordinate the return of residents to their units after project completion.
Compliance and Documentation:
· Prepare and distribute required relocation notices consistent with URA and HUD Handbook 1378 requirements.
· Calculate relocation assistance and any incentive payments in accordance with Housing Authority policy and applicable regulations.
· Maintain accurate, confidential relocation files, case records, logs, and status reports for each household.
· Ensure all activities comply with the Unform Relocation Act, HUD regulations, Fair Housing laws, and Housing Authority policies and procedures.
· Develop and maintain working relationships with community, health, and social service agencies to support resident relocation needs.
· Perform additional duties as assigned, in support of the modernization project.
Education and Experience:
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred in public administration, human services, social work, business administration, housing management, project management.
OR
3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in housing administration, property management, social services, project coordination, relocation services or closely related field.
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
· Conducting one-on-one interviews and needs assessments.
· Working independently and managing a demanding, deadline-driven workload.
· Serving low-income, elderly, and disabled populations with sensitivity and patience.
· Interpreting and applying federal and governmental regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and empathy.
· Knowledge of HUD policies, the Uniform Relocation Act, and Fair Housing requirements preferred, but not mandatory.
· Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
· Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
· Ability to work collaboratively with residents, staff, contractors, and outside agencies.

· Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
· Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug screen.

Pay: $20.50 - $23.50 per hour
