Diesel Mechanic
Base Distributing is seeking an experienced, dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of diesel trucks, trailers, and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality work, values safety, and can work independently while supporting our operations team.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on diesel trucks and trailers
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, electrical, and air systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Perform DOT inspections and identify safety concerns
- Repair lighting, wiring, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Replace worn or damaged components
- Perform oil changes, filter replacements, and routine services
- Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
- Coordinate with Operations and Dispatch to minimize equipment downtime
- Respond to emergency breakdowns as needed
- Keep shop and work areas clean and organized
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards
Qualifications
- Experience as a diesel mechanic (2+ years preferred)
- Knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines and truck systems
- Experience working on tractors, trailers, and commercial equipment
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Own basic mechanic tools (preferred)
- Valid driver's license required
- CDL is a plus but not required
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds

- Trailer repairs with tanker experience (preferred)
- Hydraulic systems
- Fleet maintenance & diagnostic software

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
