Description of the role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Master Automotive Technician to join our team and serve as a technical leader within the service department. In this role, you will perform expert-level diagnostics, complex repairs, and root cause analysis across the entire Toyota product line, including gasoline, hybrid, and electric vehicles. You will troubleshoot challenging mechanical and electronic issues using advanced diagnostic tools and factory systems, ensuring all work meets OEM standards for safety and quality.
You will also play a critical role in mentoring junior technicians, leading difficult diagnostic cases, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Responsibilities include conducting post-repair inspections, maintaining precise repair documentation, and staying up to date with Toyota certification and training requirements. Additionally, you’ll collaborate closely with Service Advisors to communicate technical findings and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction. This position requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of the repair process.
Responsibilities:

Advanced Diagnostics & Root Cause Analysis
- Perform expert-level diagnosis of intermittent and complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues across the entire Kia product line, utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and factory technical information systems

Thoroughly investigate and identify root causes of vehicle malfunctions, even when symptoms are elusive

Lead troubleshooting efforts for difficult-to-diagnose customer concerns.

Complex Repair & Overhaul
- Execute precise and efficient repairs, overhauls, and replacements of major vehicle components, including engines, transmissions (automatic and manual), advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), hybrid/EV powertrains, and complex electrical circuits

Perform intricate wiring repairs, module programming, and software updates

Ensure all repairs meet strict factory specifications and safety standards

Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Act as a technical resource and provide hands-on guidance, coaching, and training to less experienced technicians

Assist colleagues with challenging diagnostic cases and repair procedures

Share best practices and foster a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the shop

Quality Assurance & Documentation

Conduct comprehensive post-repair inspections and test drives to ensure problem resolution and complete customer satisfaction

Maintain meticulous and accurate documentation of all diagnoses, repairs performed, parts used, and labor times in the dealership management system

Adhere strictly to all manufacturer warranty policies and procedures

Continuous Learning & OEM Standards

Proactively engaged in all required Toyota factory training and certification programs (including new model launches and technology updates) to maintain Master Technician status

Stay current with the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic methods, and industry best practices

Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Toyota OEM standards and safety guidelines

Customer & Service Advisor Communication
- Collaborate closely with Service Advisors to clearly explain complex technical issues, recommended repairs, and estimated costs in an understandable manner for customers

Provide expert advice on preventive maintenance and long-term vehicle care

Shop Stewardship
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Properly use and care for all dealership tools, equipment, and specialty tools
Requirements/ Qualifications:

Current Toyota Master Technician Certification (Required): Proof of active, highest-level factory certification from Kia
-
Extensive Experience: A minimum of [e.g., 3-7+] years of proven, hands-on experience as an Automotive Technician, with significant time specializing in Kia vehicles at a dealership level

Superior Diagnostic Acumen: Exceptional ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex, intermittent, and multi-system automotive problems using advanced diagnostic tools and critical thinking

Expert-Level Technical Skills: Proficient in all aspects of automotive repair, including engine performance, transmission, electrical, hybrid/EV, ADAS, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and multiplex communication systems

Strong Leadership & Mentorship Abilities: Demonstrated capacity to guide, teach, and technically support other technicians effectively

Meticulous Attention to Detail: Commitment to accuracy, thoroughness, and quality workmanship

Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to articulate complex technical information clearly to both colleagues and non-technical staff (Service Advisors)

Problem-Solving Prowess: A resourceful and analytical approach to tackling challenging technical issues

Valid Driver's License and Clean Driving Record

ASE Master Automobile Technician Certifications (Highly Preferred)
