American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab RN for a 13-week travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting, requiring active AZ or Compact RN licensure and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Acute care hospital setting, Cardiac Cath Lab unit

Lab consists of 2 suites: one primarily EP and one fully interventional (no structural heart, no open heart procedures, lesser-acuity interventional cases only)

EP procedures performed; some peripheral procedures; no standard IR-type procedures

Averages 8 cases per day

Standard team is 1 RN and 2 techs (RT and Scrub); STEMIs and call cases run with a 2 RN, 2 tech team

All RNs are required to sedate; scrubbing experience is a plus but not required

Cardiologists available 24/7

Permanent RN Manager on unit with rotating Charge RN Monday–Friday

Primary charting system is Cerner (limited use); Maclab equipment also used
-
Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 0600–1830
-
On-call required: generally 1 night per week, occasionally 2 depending on staffing needs

Weekend call rotation: approximately 1 weekend every 3–4 weeks (Friday 1830 to Monday 0600)

Holiday on-call: one 4-person team on call for 24 hours on holidays

30-minute call response time required

Possible float to a nearby sister facility

Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Cardiac Cath Lab RN experience required

EP experience is a strong plus; candidates without EP experience will not be assigned to the EP room

Must be able to administer conscious sedation

Cerner EMR experience preferred; Maclab experience a plus

A driver's license must be provided for consideration

Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam (via Relias) within 48 hours of receiving an offer; only 2 attempts are allowed — failure to pass disqualifies the candidate from this health system's AZ facilities for 6 months

A Pass/Fail simulation lab assessment on sterile technique (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on Day 1 of orientation; failure results in immediate dismissal and a 6-month DNU status

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, PRN, or seasonal) by any facility in this health system within the past 12 months are not eligible

Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; a driver's license is used to verify permanent address

Orientation is approximately 3 days

Hospital scrubs are provided
