Children's Home Society of WV is seeking a full-time Shelter Supervisor at our Romney Child Shelter in Romney, WV.
What you will be doing:
- Coordinate and direct all aspects of the youth emergency shelter program.
- Provide staff supervision. Plan and conduct individual supervisory sessions and employee performance evaluations.
- Coordinate and supervise efforts by shelter social workers to explore and procure appropriate services for the children and youth the shelter serves.
- Plan, organize, and conduct monthly staff meetings and training for all staff.
- Recruit and hire needed employees.
- Screen referrals and assess the appropriateness of the shelter service for the referred youth.
- Assess youth strengths and needs. Instruct staff in appropriate intervention and implementation of services, including crisis management.
- Provide meaningful observations of children and youth and act as an advocate when needed.
- Ensure implementation of the behavior management program.
- Ensure the timeliness, accuracy, and grammatical construction of all reports, assessments, and professional correspondence completed by program staff.
- Compile and submit all mandatory monthly reports. This includes, but is not limited to, progress reports, contribution logs, monthly statistics, and Medicaid billing.
- Complete all personnel-related paperwork on schedule. This includes, but is not limited to, time sheets, annual/sick leave records, expense reports, new hire and exiting employee paperwork, and credentialing information.
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all agency policies and procedures and applicable laws.
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to state licensing requirements and standards.
- Be knowledgeable of and assist in establishing program budgets and funding methods for services.
- Coordinate and maintain work on the shelter facility.
- Be actively involved in community outreach and ensure the community is involved in agency efforts in a meaningful way.
- Be consistently available for consultation and support.
- Provide a positive role model to children, youth, and their families, as well as shelter staff.
- Report all incidents of abuse and/or neglect.
- Commit to the vision of permanency for every child.

What you will need:
- Master's degree in social work or a related human services field preferred; Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with children, youth, and families in the human services field /child welfare field.
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage.
- Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Availability for periodic on-call support, and availability to assist or act on behalf of the Site Manager when requested.
- Ability to understand and support the values of family-centered services, which include committing to family stability and the development of skills in assessing risk to children to ensure safety.
- Willingness to comply with professional standards as specified by the NASW Code of Ethics.
