Provides direct patient care in the Labor and Delivery setting. Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. Communicates with physicians about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including: fetal monitoring and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in all Maternal Child Health departments with adequate supervision.
Graduate from an accredited Registered school of nursing.
One or more years of recent Labor and Delivery/Newborn Nursery experience
General practice medicine and medical terminology; standard diagnostic
and medical equipment and instruments; basic office computer skills a must
Current licensure from the State Board of Nurse Examiners by the
State of Texas with renewal as required by law; successful completion
of Neonatal Resuscitation Certification, BCLS and fetal monitoring certification
