The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the church
by ensuring that all facilities, equipment and grounds are safe, functioning, and welcoming. This
position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of Church properties while
providing exceptional service and support to staff, volunteers, congregation members, and
guests.

Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance and Repairs
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building
systems.
- Perform repairs on electrical equipment, including light fixtures, pumps, coffee makers, and
similar devices.
- Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, faucets, and drains.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on gas-powered equipment.
- Install and repair hardware including door locks, hinges, closers, and related components.
- Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance programs.
- Complete general maintenance tasks associated with daily church operations.
Volunteer Coordination
- Work effectively alongside volunteers to accomplish maintenance and facility projects.
- Provide a positive, encouraging, and rewarding volunteer experience.
- Promote teamwork and help volunteers develop confidence and ownership in assigned tasks.
Event Support
- Set up and tear down tables, chairs, staging, and equipment for church events and ministry
activities.
- Assist with furniture relocation and room reconfigurations.
- Assemble and install equipment, furnishings, and event-related materials as needed.
Safety and Facility Appearance
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment throughout the facility and grounds.
- Identify and report safety concerns, maintenance issues, and potential hazards.
- Support facility safety standards and best practices.
- Report unsafe conditions to the Facilities Director. Grounds and Seasonal Maintenance
- Assist with lawn care, mowing, trimming, and landscaping projects.
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems.
- Perform pond maintenance and treatment using approved products.
- Assist with snow removal, including shoveling, snow blowing, and salting.
- Install and remove seasonal decorations, including Christmas lighting and displays.
Schedule
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00/7:30 a.m. – 3:30/4:00 p.m.
- Daytime training schedule may be required for up to three months.
- Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work may be required to support special events
and ministry activities.
- Flexibility is required based on weather conditions and ministry needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift
throughout the workday.
- Frequently use hands, arms, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, cleaning products, odors, and other environmental conditions common to
maintenance work.
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds repeatedly.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with building maintenance, repairs, and facility operations.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
