Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Truck Technician

R.C. Transport is looking for an experienced diesel mechanic to help maintain and repair our company-owned fleet of semi trucks and trailers.
This is an in-house fleet position. You will work on the same group of equipment instead of dealing with a constant rotation of unknown customer trucks. We are looking for someone dependable who can diagnose problems correctly, complete repairs safely, and help keep our trucks on the road.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems on Class 8 trucks
- Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections
- Repair brakes, air systems, suspension, steering, cooling systems, and electrical systems
- Troubleshoot check-engine lights and fault codes
- Perform basic engine and aftertreatment repairs
- Maintain and repair dry van trailers
- Complete service records and document repairs
- Identify problems before they cause breakdowns
- Keep the shop and work areas clean and organized
- Assist with occasional road-service or emergency repairs when needed
Qualifications
- Previous diesel truck or heavy-equipment repair experience
- Ability to diagnose problems instead of simply replacing parts
- Experience working on Freightliner, Volvo, Detroit, Cummins, or similar equipment is preferred
- Must have your own basic hand tools
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- CDL is helpful but not required
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be dependable and able to work without constant supervision
- Must take pride in doing repairs correctly and safely

We are not looking for someone who needs to be watched all day. We need a mechanic who can inspect a truck, find the actual problem, explain what it needs, and complete the repair correctly.
