The Energy Coordinator is a full-time, nonexempt position responsible for coordinating the Ecology Action Center's energy efficiency, building performance, renewable energy, and related sustainability programs. The position develops and implements community education, outreach, technical assistance, and project activities that promote energy conservation, clean energy, and environmental sustainability. The Energy Coordinator may also support related organizational initiatives, including air quality monitoring and other environmental programs, as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Program Coordination and Technical Assistance
· Coordinate and implement energy efficiency, building performance, renewable energy, and related sustainability programs.
· Conduct residential and small business energy audits, including blower door testing and other diagnostic assessments as appropriate.
· Prepare detailed written audit reports with prioritized recommendations for energy improvements.
· Provide technical assistance and guidance to residents, businesses, and community partners regarding energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities.
· Stay informed on current energy technologies, policies, funding opportunities, and industry best practices.
Education and Community Outreach
· Develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, presentations, and outreach activities promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy literacy, and environmental sustainability.
· Represent the Ecology Action Center at community events, fairs, workshops, and information booths.
· Create educational materials, online content, and communications supporting program objectives.
· Incorporate environmental justice, equity, and accessibility principles into program planning and implementation.
Organizational Support
· Promote Ecology Action Center programs, services, and events.
· Assist with staffing the Ecology Action Center office, including answering phones, greeting visitors, responding to inquiries, and distributing educational materials.
· Support special events, community programs, and organizational initiatives as assigned.
· Work collaboratively with staff, interns, volunteers, partner organizations, and contractors to advance the mission of the Ecology Action Center.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule and Location
This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours to support meetings, educational programs, and community events.
The position is primarily onsite at the Ecology Action Center offices located at 202 W. College Avenue, Normal, Illinois, with regular travel throughout McLean County for meetings, outreach activities, and project implementation.
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental science, environmental health, sustainability, engineering, or a related field.
· Minimum of three years of experience in community outreach, environmental education, energy efficiency, sustainability, or a related field.
· Strong verbal, written, and public presentation skills.
· Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
· Ability to communicate technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
· Proficiency with common office software and web-based technologies, including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, CRM systems, WordPress, and social media platforms.
· Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, automobile insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
Highly Preferred
· Existing Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst Certification; in the absence of current BPI certification, must successfully obtain certification within 6 months.
· Experience conducting residential energy audits or building performance testing.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for extended periods during outreach events and educational programs.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
· Ability to transport program materials and equipment to community events and project sites.
· Ability to work both indoors and outdoors under varying weather conditions.

The Ecology Action Center is a not-for-profit environmental agency with a mission to inspire and assist residents of McLean County in creating, strengthening and preserving a healthy environment. The EAC acts as a central resource for environmental education, information, outreach, and technical assistance in McLean County.
Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
