Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant / Ophthalmic Technician, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and support Optometry services. In this vital role, you will assist our Optometrists with patient examinations, perform clinical procedures, and manage medical records with precision. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment for patients while ensuring smooth clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking medical histories
- Educate all new patients regarding office procedures. Inform patients of the purpose of all tests performed and how they will be affected during the tests.
- Perform optical testing including visual acuity assessments, auto-refraction, tonometry, topography, retinal imaging, other diagnostic tests using specialized ophthalmic equipment.
- Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
- Manage electronic medical records (Crystal PM)
- Educate patients on eye health, medication instructions, and post-procedure care to promote understanding and compliance.
- Help with front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and managing patient records securely.
Experience
- EXPERIENCE NOT NEEDED! We will train for the right person!
- Looking for someone with at least Monday, Thursday and Friday availability.
- Hands-on experience with optical equipment and performing diagnostic tests like visual acuity assessments or refractions would be helpful
- Strong customer service skills can enhance patient interactions at the front desk or eyewear sales area. Benefits:
