Job Overview:
Perform maintenance and repair on a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles within the Primoris Fleet, primarily based in Belton, TX, ensuring operational readiness and safety.
Job Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and paving equipment.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and services, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
- Perform engine, transmission, and differential repairs and replacements.
- Service and repair braking systems, steering systems, and suspension components.
- Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labor hours.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Communicate effectively with fleet management, operators, and parts suppliers.
- Order necessary parts and supplies for repairs.
- Travel to various job sites in and around Belton, TX, as required, to perform field repairs.
- Assist with equipment transportation and setup when needed.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical school program in heavy equipment repair, diesel mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in a field service role.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines (e.g., Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere), hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains.
- Strong understanding of schematics and technical manuals.
- Ability to operate diagnostic software and tools effectively.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, climb, and work in various weather conditions.
- Availability to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as needed.
- Strong commitment to safety.

Primoris Heavy Civil provides highway, port, airfield, rail and marine (intermodal transportation) construction services to private commercial and industrial clients as well as governmental entities such as the Department of Transportation and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
