The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our team as a Commercial Underwriter. In this role, you will analyze and underwrite complex commercial real estate transactions, working closely with internal teams and clients to deliver efficient, risk-conscious solutions.
Job Summary
The Commercial Underwriter provides underwriting support, guidance, and authorization for title insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements. This role evaluates and mitigates risk, ensures compliance with company standards, and supports successful transaction execution.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to staff and customers.
· Prepare title commitments, pro forma policies, and final policies/endorsements for Arizona commercial transactions.
· Analyze legal documents, surveys, and title objections to assess and mitigate risk.
· Apply underwriting guidelines within delegated authority limits.
· Lead transactions from commitment through policy issuance.
· Incorporate organizational documents and due diligence into underwriting decisions.
· Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues and drive closings.
· Communicate clearly and professionally, including complex or sensitive matters.
· Manage workload and priorities to meet deadlines and productivity expectations.
Qualifications
· Familiarity with real estate law and applicable state and federal regulations.
· Strong understanding of commercial title insurance and settlement processes.
· Ability to analyze complex title issues and deliver practical solutions.
· Strong collaboration, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management.
· Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively

Experience & Technical Skills
· Experience preparing and revising commercial title commitments and pro formas.
· Ability to read metes and bounds legal descriptions.
· Experience reviewing ALTA/NSPS surveys.
· Ability to analyze organizational documents and confirm signing authority.
· Proficiency with SoftPro, Data Trace, TitlePoint, and Outlook.
· Strong investigative and analytical skills with attention to quality and accuracy.
· Customer-focused approach with a commitment to service excellence.
