Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Technician / SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) Laborer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in conducting geotechnical investigations, performing utility location surveys, and supporting construction inspection activities. Responsibilities
- Assist with subsurface investigations by collecting soil, rock, and material samples in accordance with ASTM standards.
- Conduct utility location surveys using SUE techniques, including vacuum excavation and ground-penetrating radar (GPR).
- Support geotechnical testing procedures such as soil compaction, concrete strength testing, and asphalt quality assessments following AASHTO and ACI standards.
- Perform construction site inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, contracts, and safety protocols.
- Document findings accurately through detailed reports, photographs, and data logs for quality control and analysis purposes.
- Support laboratory testing activities by preparing samples, operating testing equipment, and recording results precisely.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to analyze data, identify issues, and recommend solutions for geotechnical challenges.
Requirements
- Prior construction experience or laboratory experience related to geotechnical or materials testing fields.
- Knowledge of concrete work, masonry, asphalt, and concrete forming processes.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM standards for materials testing and AASHTO standards for highway construction.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent data collection and analysis skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, digging, and operating excavation equipment safely on construction sites.
- Technical proficiency in using GPR equipment, survey tools, or other geotechnical instrumentation is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of quality control procedures and inspection techniques in construction environments.
- Good numeracy skills for precise measurement recording and analysis.
- Effective communication skills to document findings clearly and collaborate with team members professionally.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

- Geotechnical Experience & Skilled Laborer: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- ACI & Nuclear Gage Certification (Preferred)
