American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and the ability to float across multiple regional facilities.

Work in a 26-bed Surgical Telemetry unit at a 207-licensed-bed hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations (no trauma designation, not a teaching hospital)

Patient population includes general medical telemetry overflow and surgical patients such as bariatric/weight loss surgery, urology procedures, general post-op, abdominal surgeries, GI bleeds, small bowel obstructions, and foot and ankle surgery

RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 (up to 1:7-8 during critical surge); CNA support ratio is 1:6-12

Skills required include stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.)

Medication drip management required, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF

EMR: Epic; IV Pump: Alaris; Med Dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips

12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call responsibilities

Floating is required across all units within scope at the facility and regionally within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities); candidates not willing to float should not apply

Schedule cycle is every 6 weeks

Active NC or Compact RN license required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

Proficiency in the full general Med/Tele skillset including telemetry monitoring, drip management, and surgical patient care

Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

One professional reference dated within the past year required, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Department support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team (11a-7p and 11p-7a), resource nurse (as staffing allows), RT (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist coverage

Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; time may be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours cannot otherwise be met
