Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Claims Examiner for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Pasadena, CA. This role is ideal for a claims professional with healthcare industry experience who understands medical malpractice litigation, professional liability claims, and the importance of thorough, compliant claims handling.
The Medical Malpractice Claims Examiner will manage moderately complex to complex claims involving alleged medical negligence, general liability, employment liability, and professional liability matters. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with legal counsel, risk management, medical staff, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders in a collaborative and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the defense, evaluation, and resolution of medical malpractice, professional liability, general liability, and employment liability claims within established guidelines.
- Investigate pre-suit claims, evaluate liability and damages, set reserves, and conduct regular reserve reviews based on total loss exposure.
- Retain, direct, and monitor outside defense counsel, including legal fees, litigation strategy, discovery responses, and compliance with litigation guidelines.
- Attend and support depositions, hearings, settlement conferences, and trials while monitoring case progress and claim disposition opportunities.
- Negotiate claim resolutions with claimants, attorneys, medical experts, insurance carriers, and other involved parties.
- Maintain accurate claims files, calendars, databases, reports, and documentation in compliance with internal policies and reporting requirements.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay Rate: $36.00 to $44.00 per hour.
