Lead Fleet Optimizer
Baker Aviation is seeking a Lead Fleet Optimizer. We operate 40+ aircraft as a part 135 on-demand charter operation. This is a dedicated operations role, separate from sales, focused entirely on real-time fleet optimization — maximizing aircraft availability and profitability while minimizing empty repositioning legs. The Lead Fleet Optimizer owns schedule integrity, regulatory compliance (duty, rest, and flight time limitations), and delay risk mitigation across the fleet, working closely with the sales team, pilots, and FBOs to ensure every trip executes smoothly.
Job Responsibilities
- Continuously perform fleet optimizations throughout the day to maximize availability and gross profit
- Minimize empty repositioning legs across the fleet
- Approve or deny trip requests based on aircraft availability and schedule needs
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of Part 135 duty day, rest, and flight time limitations, including 10/24 rules
- Monitor crew duty and rest status against the schedule to prevent violations
- Identify trips at high risk for delays
- Mitigate delays proactively
- Ensure expected delays are communicated promptly to management, sales, and brokers
- Trip administration - Track and manage duty, rest, and flight hours. Secure PPRs and review NOTAMs
- Manage AOG situations — identify solutions and coordinate recovery
- Work with the sales team to ensure timely, accurate broker updates during AOG or delay events
- Manage sales team follow-ups - Ensure the sales team stays focused on must-move trips and filling large gaps on the calendar
- Work with leadership to adjust pricing based on demand
- Use JetInsight daily for scheduling, trip admin, and fleet visibility — strong JetInsight proficiency is a plus
Schedule
This is not a standard 8-5, Monday–Friday role. As a part 135 on-demand operator, the fleet requires around-the-clock attention, including weekends. This role carries ongoing responsibility for fleet performance at all hours, and the workload reflects that. There is real room for growth for the right person who brings the commitment and skill to match.
Location
This is a remote position. In-person training may be required during onboarding.
