Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and mechanical knowledge to identify issues with engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on various vehicles and equipment including cars, trucks, farm machinery, industrial equipment, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to repair or assemble parts and components.
- Service heavy equipment such as Caterpillar machinery, excavators, cranes, and other industrial equipment by replacing shocks & struts, aligning wheels, repairing air brakes, or restoring hydraulics systems.
- Perform tire service including mounting, balancing, rotation, and repairs; execute brake repairs; and conduct suspension work to ensure vehicle safety standards are met.
- Maintain detailed service records; interpret schematics; follow safety protocols; and ensure all work complies with industry standards.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate equipment like forklifts or cranes when handling large or cumbersome parts.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an auto technician or mechanic with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across automotive systems including transmissions, diesel engines, HVAC systems, electrical wiring, hydraulics, and suspension components.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (including MIG/TIG welding), soldering techniques for repairs or fabrication projects.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics accurately for complex machinery diagnostics.
- Experience working with heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts or farm machinery is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform vehicle maintenance tasks efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs needed or ongoing work.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting; work in various environmental conditions; and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Pay: $28.30 - $34.08 per hour
