The HVAC Journeyman - Service supports commercial and industrial mechanical service work across the Metro Atlanta market. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, emergency response, and customer-facing service work on HVAC and mechanical systems.
This position is best suited for an experienced HVAC journeyman who can work independently, diagnose equipment issues, complete service calls, document findings, communicate with customers, and help ensure reliable operation across commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on HVAC journeyman with strong commercial service experience and the ability to support customers across the Atlanta market. This person should be comfortable responding to service calls, diagnosing equipment failures, completing PMs and repairs, using BAS/BMS systems, documenting work accurately, communicating with customers, and helping keep HVAC systems operating safely and reliably.
Perform HVAC service, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair work across commercial and industrial client sites.
Service and troubleshoot RTUs, AHUs, split systems, heat pumps, pumps, condensers, VAVs, exhaust fans, fan coils, and related HVAC equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, airflow, refrigerant, controls, and BAS/BMS-related issues and determine proper corrective action.
Respond to service calls, urgent repairs, alarms, and customer concerns in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
Follow site-specific safety procedures, LOTO requirements, permit-to-work processes, and customer work rules while protecting equipment and facility operations.
Use BAS/BMS systems to monitor equipment, verify alarms, support troubleshooting, place units in maintenance mode, and confirm system operation.
Complete PMs, repairs, inspections, refrigerant logs, service reports, and work orders accurately through the appropriate CMMS or work order system.
Communicate clearly with customers, site operations teams, vendors, dispatch, service managers, and ABM leadership regarding equipment status, repair needs, parts, and follow-up actions.
Identify deficiencies, recommend repairs, escalate complex issues, and support quote development when needed.
Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors during repairs, inspections, and specialized service work.
Maintain safe work practices, including proper use of PPE, LOTO, SDS, ladder safety, electrical awareness, refrigerant handling, and housekeeping.
Support after-hours service, overtime, on-call rotation, and emergency response as business needs require.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of commercial, industrial, or institutional HVAC service experience.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial HVAC equipment such as RTUs, AHUs, split systems, heat pumps, pumps, fan coils, VAVs, and related controls.
EPA 608 Universal Certification.
Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigerant, airflow, and basic controls issues.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, service procedures, work orders, and basic mechanical drawings.
Experience using a CMMS, service platform, or work order system to document service activity.
Working knowledge of safe work practices, including LOTO, PPE, SDS, and job hazard awareness.
Valid driver license and ability to travel to service sites throughout the Metro Atlanta area.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to work overtime, flexible schedules, on-call rotation, or emergency service support as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, education, manufacturing, hospitality, or similar HVAC service experience.
Experience servicing larger commercial HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, cooling towers, or similar systems.
BAS/BMS experience with Johnson Controls, Metasys, Honeywell, Siemens, Trane, or similar platforms.
Experience with chillers, condenser systems, cooling towers, pumps, four-pipe systems, central plants, or larger tonnage HVAC equipment.
Familiarity with permit-to-work processes, customer site procedures, and formal maintenance documentation.
OSHA 10, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, journeyman license, or local union trade credentials.
Experience coordinating with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal service teams.
Ability to support quote development, repair recommendations, parts identification, and follow-up service planning.
