Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Caregivers to provide high-quality assistance to individuals in their home. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents and clients by delivering personalized care with professionalism and empathy. Prior experience in senior care, home health, hospice, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is highly valued. This role involves direct support with daily activities and health monitoring, ensuring safety and comfort for those in your care.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide patient observation
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
- Support residents with memory care needs such as Alzheimer's or dementia through specialized techniques
- Operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts safely to transfer residents
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and sanitation
- Document patient care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards
- Follow prescribed care plans developed by healthcare professionals
- Respond promptly to emergencies with appropriate first aid or CPR when necessary
- Collaborate with healthcare teams, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive resident support
Requirements
- Prior experience in senior care, home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice, or working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders is preferred but not required
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist residents using equipment like Hoyer lifts safely
- Strong patient observation skills and the ability to monitor vital signs effectively
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations including those with autism or memory impairments
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and behavioral management techniques preferred
- Ability to work independently while following detailed care plans under supervision of healthcare professionals
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; reliable transportation may be required for home visits or community-based support roles
