We're Looking For:
Saving Hope Rescue is seeking a compassionate, dependable Kennel Technician to support the daily care of our rescue dogs and help keep our facility running smoothly.
This position is hands-on, fast-paced, and deeply meaningful. It requires patience, physical work, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm in the everyday chaos that comes with rescue. You’ll be part of a team that provides comfort, structure, and care to dogs who are counting on us.
Job ResponsibilitiesAnimal Care
- Feed, water, and care for dogs according to daily instructions
- Administer medications as directed
- Monitor dogs for changes in behavior, appetite, energy level, or health
- Safely handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, and backgrounds
- Provide positive interaction, enrichment, walks, and playtime
- Assist with basic grooming needs such as baths, nail trims, and general cleanliness
Cleaning and Facility Care
- Clean and sanitize kennels, crates, play areas, and common spaces
- Complete laundry, dishes, trash removal, and other daily cleaning tasks
- Help maintain an organized, safe, and healthy environment for the dogs and staff
- Restock supplies and assist with general upkeep as needed
Rescue Operations Support
- Assist with the intake of new dogs
- Help prepare dogs for adoption events, vet visits, or transport
- Keep accurate records for feeding, medications, and daily notes
- Communicate concerns or updates clearly with supervisors and team members
- Step in wherever needed to support the dogs and the mission
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- A genuine love for dogs and a strong commitment to animal welfare
- A calm, patient, and kind approach, even in stressful or emotional situations
- Reliability and the ability to follow through on assigned responsibilities
- A team-focused attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
- The physical ability to lift 40–50 pounds and remain on their feet for extended periods
- Comfort working in a loud, messy, and active rescue environment
- Willingness to clean thoroughly and get dirty — cleaning is a major part of this role
Previous rescue, shelter, veterinary, or animal care experience is required - at least one year. Also required to pass a background check.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
