POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Actively oversees dog pack in social play environment, is functional pack “Alpha”.
2. Observes behavior and intervenes as necessary to prevent fights and injury to pets.
3. Sets up room with water filled bowls, bedding, vari-kennels, approved toys.
4. Actively encourages play/interaction between pets and pet activity.
5. Cleans/sanitizes all items at end of day or during day as necessary.
6. Inspects toys regularly and removes those not suitable for safe play.
7. Ensures that pets wear appropriate, flat, quick release collars.
8. Takes pets to and retrieves pets from boarding area as necessary.
9. Conducts interviews with prospective campers.
10. Maintains campers’ files and ensures each camper has a current contract on file.
11. Promptly cleans up/mops after pets when they eliminate.
12. Thoroughly cleans/sanitizes floor and camp equipment at end of day.
13. Reports items in low supply to Management.
14. Follows all safe handling and day Camp procedures.
15. Reports needed repairs to Management.
16. Completes Day Camp Reports each day and interacts with customers and provides individual pet feedback.
17. Devises/Suggests/Executes special DDC pet events.
18. Supervises (separate) playgroup as required.
19. Supports the Mission and Philosophy of Best Friends Pet Care, Inc.
20. Treats customers, guests and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner; greets all customers encountered while performing work duties.
21. Assists other Associates as needed.
22. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: COVID-19 VACCINE
EDUCATION: High School Graduate or Equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year dog handling experience.
PHYSICAL:
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
- Must be able to be on feet for full shift.
- Must be able to stand, walk frequently.
- Must be able to bend, stoop and squat.
- Must be able to work on computer system and complete written reports
- Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.
PERSONAL:
- Must possess a love of animals.
- Displays a professional manner at all times.
- Must have dominant dog behavior skills.
The compensation information below is provided in compliance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. The anticipated compensation range for this position is $16.94–$17.50 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, qualifications, schedule availability, productivity, and business needs. Compensation may also include commissions, incentives, or tips, where applicable. Where required by law, employees will be compensated at least the applicable minimum wage for all hours worked.
