Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor vital signs regularly and accurately document patient information utilizing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
- Support patients with complex needs such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or behavioral health conditions through specialized memory care and dementia care practices.
- Administer medications under the supervision of nursing staff following strict HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient transfers using safe transfer methods and ensure seamless communication about patient status.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold all safety protocols during procedures involving infectious disease care, sterile techniques, and hospital medicine practices.
- Assist with medical documentation, including recording vital signs, medical records management, and updating electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
- Support emergency situations by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills and assisting in urgent care or trauma scenarios such as Level I or Level II trauma center environments.
- Utilize patient transfer methods efficiently while practicing safe lifting practices during heavy lifting tasks to prevent injury.
- Provide compassionate caregiving for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, long-term care residents, and individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a CNA in medical-surgical units or acute care settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Prior experience in specialized areas such as hospice care, infectious disease management, or behavioral health is highly valued.
- Familiarity with advanced patient care techniques including catheter care, phlebotomy procedures, and use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to senior care, pediatrics, or long-term care facilities enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive patient service.
- Ability to work effectively with geriatric patients and those with complex medical needs while maintaining high standards of safety and confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills for caregiver interactions and teamwork within multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
