Key Project Requirements:
- 10+ years of mechanical commissioning experience on power generation projects, with recent experience on simple-cycle or combined-cycle facilities.
- Strong hands-on commissioning experience with GE LM2500, LM6000, Frame gas turbines, or similar combustion turbine technologies.
- Proven experience leading mechanical system commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities while coordinating with construction, OEM representatives, and project stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of balance-of-plant (BOP) mechanical systems including fuel gas, lube oil, cooling water, compressed air, fire protection, and auxiliary systems.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to support startup and commissioning activities for a gas-fired simple-cycle power generation project located in Colorado. The Mechanical Commissioning Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing mechanical commissioning activities to ensure plant systems are safely tested, commissioned, and turned over for commercial operation. This position works closely with construction, OEM representatives, operations, electrical and I&C commissioning teams, and project management to support successful project execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical commissioning activities from system turnover through startup and commercial operation.
- Coordinate mechanical system walkdowns, punch list development, deficiency tracking, and turnover readiness.
- Review mechanical completion documentation and verify systems are ready for commissioning.
- Execute and support commissioning procedures, functional testing, flushing, cleaning, pressure testing, and system startup activities.
- Coordinate commissioning of gas turbine auxiliary systems including fuel gas, lube oil, cooling water, ventilation, hydraulic, compressed air, fire protection, and other balance-of-plant systems.
- Work closely with GE field service representatives and OEM personnel during gas turbine startup and testing activities.
- Coordinate with electrical and I&C commissioning teams to support integrated system testing and startup.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues that impact commissioning progress or plant performance.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure commissioning activities comply with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Participate in daily commissioning meetings and provide regular progress updates to project leadership.
- Support performance testing, reliability runs, and final plant turnover to operations.
- Maintain accurate commissioning documentation, turnover packages, and commissioning records.
Job Requirements:
- Strong understanding of mechanical commissioning processes and system turnover requirements.
- Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, and commissioning procedures.
- Familiarity with mechanical completion software, punch list management, and turnover documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices.
Education / Experience:
- Previous experience with GE LM2500, LM6000, Frame gas turbines, or similar combustion turbine technologies strongly preferred.
- Experience commissioning peaking plants, combined-cycle facilities, or large industrial power projects preferred.
